The Inspiration

Our inspiration began shortly before Chaos's birthday. We were joking about how cool it would be to have our own email server, not knowing that in a few weeks, this joke would turn into a serious project.
This project wasnt easy at all.
Setting up a mail server from scratch is a complex task, and it took us several weeks of research, trial and error to get everything working correctly.
After some time though, we succeeded, and we were and still ARE very proud of this project.

How to get started

As of now, Masercloud Mail is a private project. However, users can request access by reaching out to us via our contact page. We are considering opening up registrations to the public in the future, depending on demand and server capacity.
If you already have an email account, getting started with Masercloud Mail is easy. Simply visit email.masercloud.de if you want to change any security related things.
After that, you can configure your email client (like Thunderbird, Outlook, or Apple Mail) to connect to the Masercloud Mail server using IMAP and SMTP settings provided upon account creation.

While setting up your email client, make sure to use the following server settings:

• Server: mail.masercloud.de
• Port (IMAP): 993 (SSL/TLS)
• Port (SMTP): 465 (STARTTLS)
• Username: Your full email address
• Password: Your email account password (or app password)

Technical Implementation

Masercloud Mail is based on Stalwart Mail™, which is an open-source mail server solution that emphasizes security, privacy, and ease of use.
The server is hosted on a Linux-based Server, utilizing Docker containers to isolate services and ensure scalability.
Cloudflare is used for DNS management and DDoS protection, enhancing the server's reliability and security.
Regular backups and monitoring are implemented to maintain data integrity and uptime.
